Ten ranges from bass to treble
The Plus mixer has bands at 31, 62, 125, 250 and 500 Hz, then 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 kHz. Each can be adjusted from −12 to +12 dB. Low bands affect bass, middle bands affect many voice and instrument components, and high bands affect brightness and sibilance.
Preamp changes the level before further processing. Automatic headroom accounts for the largest band boost, but does not guarantee that every combination remains free of peaks.
Start with small adjustments
- Begin with neutral EQ and a familiar section.
- Adjust just one band slightly and listen to whether it supports your goal.
- Reduce distracting ranges before strongly boosting several others.
- Compare against the neutral setting and check the overall output. Use Reset if you want to begin again.
Sound controls belong to Plus
EQ, sound profiles, preamp, balance and mono are protected Plus features. Sales remain disabled. An invalid subscription entitlement neutralises EQ; a local preset does not bypass this check.
A worked example
A voice is muffled, but high gain only makes it louder. With an existing Plus entitlement, a small EQ comparison may help: start with Flat, then Voice or one band adjustment. The ten bands range from 31 to 16,000 Hz and are bounded at −12 to +12 dB. These are control ranges, not a universal recommendation. Test intelligibility with the same passage and note whether the change makes sibilance unpleasant.

Check the result
If something is wrong
| Observation | Next step |
|---|---|
| Bands have no effect | Check mixer activation and actual entitlement. |
| Sound becomes quieter | EQ headroom accounts for the largest boost; do not immediately compensate with maximum gain. |
| Many bands at maximum | Return to Flat and test one targeted change. |
Common questions
Is there one correct EQ curve?
No. Sources, headphones, speakers and purposes differ. Judge small changes by the actual sound.
Does EQ reliably remove noise?
EQ affects frequencies, including wanted signal components. It is not a guaranteed noise removal or restoration service.
