Understand the Plus mixer

Control tabs individually and keep an overview

Different websites do not need the same volume. The Plus interface brings tabs into one overview while keeping their audio channels separate.

Distinguish the overview from audio access

The tab overview can show titles and mute status. For initial capture or player control, Chrome still requires your activation in that tab. A visible entry is not yet a running audio channel.

Opening a tab and browser mute do not need page activation. Play/pause instead works with existing HTML audio or video elements. Custom Web Audio players may not offer this control.

Prepare an additional tab

  1. Open the tab you want and click Sound Boost there once.
  2. Check in the overview whether the action is available before starting a channel.
  3. Adjust volume and sound parameters for that specific tab.
  4. Stop the audio channel when you want the original sound again; closing the tab also releases the channel.

Plus remains tied to an entitlement

Multiple processed audio channels belong to Plus. Access is checked online regularly. An invalid or expired entitlement stops additional channels. Sales are currently still disabled.

A worked example

A video tab and radio tab are open. Free processes one deliberately started channel. Starting the other tab’s channel stops the previous one; that original tab may then play its unprocessed audio. Plus adds the overview and independent multi-channel controls, but sales remain disabled. Check tab title and domain before changing a channel. An inactive tab can still play.

Add your observations. This template processes no files and sends no report.

Common questions

Why can I mute a tab but not pause it?

Mute is a browser function. Play/pause needs an activated page and a suitable media element in its player.

Does activation survive a domain change?

For a different domain, activate Sound Boost in that tab again.
