Permissions follow the action
Audio capture enables the audio channel. activeTab and scripting enable media control after a click in that tab. Tab data supports the overview of titles and mute status. This information is relevant locally for control.
Audio, tab titles and URLs are not sent to the billing server. Account and billing data are separately needed for the optional subscription. “Processed locally” does not mean the extension uses no data at all.
Activate the tab you need
- Open the target tab yourself.
- Click the extension icon there and start the audio action you want.
- Repeat activation after navigating to a different domain.
- If a page is protected, use its own player and check the browser restriction.
Optional connection to the subscription service
The free workflow starts without an account or a request to the subscription service. Plus checks access through the designated service and needs a connection for that. Sales remain disabled; browser activation does not start a purchase.
A worked example
You open Sound Boost on a normal website and start its channel. This deliberate action is separate from an optional account. The extension receives temporary access to the activated tab; a new domain stops Sound Boost processing. Audio is processed in the browser. Sign-in, browser linking and valid Plus status are separate processes. Do not share passwords, keys or full session data during diagnosis.
Add your observations. This template processes no files and sends no report.
Check the result
If something is wrong
| Observation | Next step |
|---|---|
| Unavailable here | Leave internal browser and store pages and test a normal website. |
| Activation missing after domain change | Deliberately open the toolbar and start again in the new target tab. |
| Plus locked despite sign-in | Sign-in, browser link and entitlement are separate; inspect actual Plus status. |
Common questions
Does Sound Boost constantly read all websites?
Media control uses the tab you activate. The overview needs tab titles and status, but the extension has no blanket website host permission.
Why does mute need less access than play/pause?
Mute uses the browser’s tab function. Play/pause works on the website with its media elements.
