# Choose presets and return to a baseline

A preset saves you a slider adjustment. It is most useful when you compare deliberately instead of layering several changes at once.

## Volume preset and sound profile

The free version has five volume presets for the single channel. A volume preset sets gain. The five sound profiles in the Plus mixer instead change the equalizer and belong to the protected Plus area.

Plus is technically prepared, but sales remain disabled. A mixer guide is not a free unlock or a statement that checkout is already available.

## Compare a preset usefully

1. Play a section you know well and keep device volume unchanged.
2. Choose a volume preset and listen to the difference from the previous setting.
3. If needed, adjust only the volume slider afterwards. Avoid comparing different sources.
4. To hear unprocessed audio, turn Power off; Reset in the Plus mixer restores the sound parameters.

## A neutral baseline helps

A sound change is easier to judge when added on its own. Begin with neutral EQ and centred balance. Louder sound often appears more impressive even when it is less suitable for your purpose.

## A worked example

You choose 200 percent and then 500 percent. The second volume preset replaces the gain setting; it is not another layer added on top. In the protected Plus mixer, Flat, Warmth, Voice, Detail and Cinema instead change EQ bands. Compare these profiles at similar perceived volume. Otherwise the louder version may seem preferable even if speech becomes less clear or music less balanced. Write a concrete goal such as “clearer consonants” instead of “more sound”.

Add your observations. This template processes no files and sends no report.

### Check the result

### If something is wrong

**Observation and next step**

| Observation | Next step |
| --- | --- |
| Preset does not change tone as expected | Check whether you selected a volume preset or Plus EQ profile. |
| Everything only sounds louder | Match perceived volume and judge the intended tonal change separately. |
| Reset does not stop capture | Distinguish Reset from Power; Power stops processing. |

## Common questions

**Does a preset unlock Plus?**

No. Free volume presets and protected Plus sound profiles are different features.

**Is a preset equally good for every recording?**

No. Recordings, players and output devices differ. Use a preset as a starting point and judge the actual sound.

Browser activation and a Plus entitlement are separate requirements. Protected content and specialised players can have their own limitations.
