# Continue after navigation, sleeping tabs or restart

A stored setting and an actually running channel differ. Check status after changing page or restarting the browser.

## Identify relevant changes

Sound Boost stops a channel when its tab navigates to another website domain or is discarded. This preserves deliberate activation. Closed tabs lose their channel. After a browser restart, no capture begins unsolicited.

Navigation within the same website can still load a new player. Check original audio and channel status. Do not rely solely on a previously recorded gain value.

## Reactivate deliberately

1. Open the desired tab so it is no longer sleeping.
2. Start website playback and check original sound.
3. Open Sound Boost from the toolbar in the target tab.
4. Start at low gain and inspect the visible status.

## Carry settings forward deliberately

Tab settings apply to the session; colour theme is a separately stored preference. Note useful values but recheck them for the new source. Another recording may have a very different original level.

## Judge the current state rather than an old value

After restart, browser tabs can be restored without Sound Boost starting their channels again. A visible restored tab is not necessarily a running channel. Check the website player and Ready to boost or Connected status. A restored page may also have another playback state. Start with actual original audio. This avoids confusing a paused recording or sleeping tab with missing gain.

If new content is behind sign-in or redirection, first check the actual destination and start there deliberately. Entitlement, website access and channel activation remain separate. Valid Plus access does not remove browser restrictions. For a reproducible report, specify domain change, tab discard or complete restart rather than grouping them as “after switching”.

## A worked example

A link leads from the video website to another provider. The previous channel ends. Deliberately open the toolbar and start again at the new destination instead of treating the old channel’s end as a fault. On returning, inspect the actual state again and begin moderately.

Add your observations. This template processes no files and sends no report.

### Check the result

### If something is wrong

**Observation and next step**

| Observation | Next step |
| --- | --- |
| Sleeping tab | Open the tab before activating. |
| No boost after following a link | Check domain change and deliberately start again. |
| Value shown, no channel | Check status; stored settings are not a running capture. |

## Common questions

**Does capture restart automatically?**

No. Deliberately start the desired channel again.

**Is the colour theme lost?**

Colour theme is saved separately. This does not imply an automatically activated audio channel.

Browser activation and a Plus entitlement are separate requirements. Protected content and specialised players can have their own limitations.
